Options trading journal for Interactive Brokers: import your fills instead of re-typing them

The Interactive Brokers import is a Beta feature: request Beta access in the app, and once our team approves it, upload a CSV or connect a Flex Query. It also works for CapTrader, LYNX, Estably and WH-SelfInvest.

What is slowing you down

Re-typing fills by hand vs importing

What changes in MindTrajour when your Interactive Brokers history comes in through the import instead of manual entry.

Re-typing every fill

Entering months of executions by hand is slow and easy to get wrong.

Exports list executions, not strategies

A broker export shows single fills. Your review needs the strategy they belong to.

Rolls blur your statistics

A roll is a close and a new open. Recording it that way keeps your realized results accurate.

How the import works

From Client Portal to a reviewed journal

Both ways in, CSV upload and Flex Query sync, use the same engine and the same preview.

1

Export or connect

Download an Activity Statement or Flex Query CSV from Client Portal, or connect a Flex Query once and sync on demand.

2

Check the preview

Every rebuilt trade shows its detected strategy and whether it is new or already imported. Nothing is saved until you confirm.

3

Add your context

Attach checklist items, notes, screenshots, tags and emotions to the imported trades.

Objections, clearly answered

Before you start, clarified

Do I need to re-enter old trades?

No. Import your Interactive Brokers history once, then sync on demand.

Will a re-import overwrite my edits?

No. Trades you edited by hand are marked as modified and left untouched.

What if a row is unclear?

It is flagged in the preview and not imported as an editable trade.

FAQ for the trial phase

How do I get my history in?

Two ways: upload a CSV from Client Portal, or connect a Flex Query and sync on demand with one click. Activity Flex Query data is end-of-day, so a fill you make today appears on the next day’s sync. The import guide in the docs walks through every step.

Does it sync automatically in the background?

No. A Flex Query connection syncs when you click Sync now. Trades from brokers outside the Interactive Brokers platform are entered manually.

What happens to rolls, wheels and covered calls?

A roll is recorded as two trades, a close and an open. The import suggests bundles for roll chains, wheel cycles and covered calls; you accept or untick each suggestion. Trade bundles are a Beta feature.

What does the import not handle yet?

Complex multi-expiry structures beyond two legs, such as double calendars, are split by expiry and may arrive as separate trades. Exotic strategies that do not match a known leg pattern are kept as read-only history rows rather than editable trades.

Is it safe to import the same file twice?

Yes. Trades you already imported are skipped on re-import, and trades you edited by hand are left untouched.

What does MindTrajour cost?

MindTrajour offers monthly and yearly plans that you can cancel anytime; the current prices are on the pricing page. You start with a 7-day free trial without a credit card.
